           Nowadays, food processing is needed to ensure that food is fresh, imperishable, and longer lasting. Unfortunately, over usage of chemicals in food processing will damage humans healthy. For a real case happened in Beijing, China. A milk powder manufacturer name “San Lu” complained by their customers because of their milk powder polluted by Melamine. Since 6th August 2008, there are 59 babies found calculus in their kidney and one of them dead.

            Baby’s parents said that their baby consume “San Lu” milk powder since they birth. So, baby’s parents suspect that it might something wrong with the milk powder. According to research by expert, Melamine is an industrial chemical, babies that consume “San Lu” milk powder with Melamine will not die directly. But it will affect reproduction and hurt the urinary system. Moreover, calculus will appear in bladder and kidney. Consequently, the baby will suffer from bladder cancer.

            After examination by “San Lu” group themselves, they announced milk powders that weight 700 ton polluted by Melamine still exist in the market. Therefore, they will take responsible on it and recall all the milk powder polluted Melamine back to “San Lu” group. Meanwhile, health department in China warning their citizens to stop consume milk powder produced by “San Lu” group. And they will test every product in China to make sure the level of Melamine won’t over the limitation.

            From this case, it increased the awareness of humans to their healthy. Therefore, this is a good lesson for “San Lu” group; they should not just care about their profit, but humans’ healthy.
